Each answer below is complete in its first two sentences. We link to the platforms' own rules instead of interpreting them; rules change, and we're not the platform.

Are AI-generated photos allowed on Vinted?

Vinted's written catalogue rules don't mention AI. Vinted has said publicly (statement to NU.nl, July 2026) that AI images are acceptable as long as the product is accurately represented, and that misleading images can lead to suspension. Read the rules yourself; they take two minutes.

Does Vinted ban AI photos?

Not in its written rules, and not according to its public statements. What Vinted acts on is misrepresentation: an image that changes the garment or hides a flaw, generated or not.

Are AI photos allowed on Depop?

Depop's guidelines require listings to accurately represent the item and prohibit stock or stolen images. Depop's written rules don't address AI images specifically; read them at depop.com before relying on anything here. Our recommendation is the same everywhere: keep your real photos in the listing and mark generated ones.

Are AI photos allowed on eBay?

eBay's picture policy requires images to accurately depict the item and its condition, and eBay's own listing tools use AI to replace backgrounds. Check the current policy on ebay.com; our recommendation is the same as everywhere: real photos in the listing, generated ones marked.

Do I have to label AI-generated photos?

For the seller, no platform currently requires a label. For the provider of the generating tool, the EU AI Act requires machine-readable marking of generated images since 2 August 2026. A small visible "AI-generated" note on the image, plus a word in the description, is good practice.

Can I use an AI photo as my first listing photo?

Vinted's rule is that the first photo must clearly show the whole item; it doesn't say which kind of photo. Our recommendation: the generated image first, because it shows the whole item and gets the tap, and your real photos right behind it.

Can AI remove wrinkles, stains or pilling?

Wrinkles, yes. Stains, pilling and holes, no. Wrinkles aren't a condition issue; the others are, and hiding them is misrepresentation on every platform.

Will buyers know the photo is AI?

Usually yes, and that's fine. Buyers care that the garment is real and accurately shown. A labelled AI try-on next to a real hanger photo reads as helpful, not deceptive.

What about styled outfit photos with items that aren't for sale?

Add one line to the listing: "styling suggestion, only the [item] is for sale".

Do I need to show a face in worn photos?

No, and you do not need photos of yourself at all: Vinted's own photo tips advise against showing your face and suggest a hanger, a mannequin or a flat lay instead (Vinted help).
