Worn, without a face

In short

You don't need to be in the picture on Vinted, and Vinted's photo tips advise against showing your face. A labelled AI try-on image, a dress form or, with their consent and their face out of frame, another person can show the fit just as well. Also watch out for mirrors, post and windows in the background.

  • Stay out of the picture
  • Check the background
  • Show the fit without you

Why shouldn't you show yourself on Vinted?

In its photo tips, under point 8, “Keep privacy and safety in mind”, Vinted says it's a good idea to avoid showing your face in photos, suggests blurring or cropping identifiable features, and names a hanger, a mannequin or a flat lay as alternatives to modelling items yourself.

There's a practical reason too: photos from listings can be copied and passed on. What isn't in the picture can't be misused.

What else besides faces should stay out of the photo?

  • Mirrors that show your home or your phone
  • Letters, parcels, name tags
  • Children, even in the background
  • Windows with a recognisable street or house number
  • Distinctive tattoos or jewellery, if a person is in the picture after all

How do you show clothes worn, without you?

  1. AI try-on image.

Your photo on a hanger becomes a worn image without you being in it. Our recommendation: as the first photo, labelled, with your real photos right behind it.

  2. Hanger on the door.

Quick and honest, but it doesn't show how the item fits.

  3. Dress form.

Good shape, but it costs money and takes up space.

  4. Another person, without their face.

Only with their consent, and their face stays out of frame. It shows fit and length.

Frequently asked questions

Do photos with a face sell better?

We know of no reliable data on that. What matters is that buyers can see fit and condition, and that doesn't need a face.

Should I use a profile photo with my face?

That's up to you. A tidy wardrobe or a detail from your clothes comes across as trustworthy too.

Do AI try-on images show faces?

That depends on the tool. kiki, for example, never shows a recognisable face.

Can I blur faces afterwards?

Yes, Vinted's photo tips mention blurring or cropping as an option. Our recommendation: better to take a photo without a face in the first place.
